Abstract
In times of geopolitical tension and hybrid threats, protecting critical infrastructure becomes a high priority, and securing the physical perimeter of this infrastructure starts by understanding its level of exposure.
Infrastructure-related data are publicly accessible, searchable, and easily aggregated. When combined and analyzed, they can reveal detailed facility layouts, critical dependencies, and single points of failure across critical infrastructure sectors including energy, transport, and even the nuclear sector. This external visibility is part of an organization’s attack surface that must be taken into consideration during security planning.
This session discusses the strategic importance of OSINT for critical infrastructure security. Through real examples and OSINT techniques, the talk explores how public data can expose vulnerable points. At the same time, the session discusses how organizations can proactively use these same techniques to identify identify high-risk exposure points, and work on mitigation measures before any vulnerabilities are exploited.
